- Jewish Chronicle of 4 Apr 1913 carries Marcus' obit (died "last Tuesday" so presumably 1 April?)He was born Homel, Russia, came to London at early age. He also invented the Improved Miner's Safety Lamp, left a widow (second wife) and several children inc Annie E LANDAU head of Evelina de Rothschild school, Jerusalem. One of his sons, John Israel, had predeceased him (28 Oct 1912) and their stone were set at the same time at Plashet on 22 Mar 1914.
