The remains interred were removed in 1974 from the greater part of the Nuevo Cemetery of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews at Mile End, London where they had originally been buried mainly between 1734 and 1876. (from the plaque at the entrance of the cemetery).
Originally there were plaques on the railings surrounding the mass graves in memory of those buried there. However, they are no longer there.
It is believed that 7,500 remains were moved here from The Nuevo Cemetery
