  	Inscription: Henry SOLOMON 15 years Chief Officer of Police who was brutally murdered while in the public discharge of the duties of his office on the 14th day of March 184[4] in the town of Brighton. In testimony of his service honoured his memory by a public funeral and by the munificent gift of five hundred pounds in aid of the subscription raised for his widow and children.
