• Notes	The Benjamins were among the founders of the first Hebrew congregation of Melbourne. Solomon Benjamin laid the foundation stone of the first Melbourne Synagogue in 1841. He was treasurer of that Synagogue 1843-6, president in 1847; treasurer during 1851 and part of 1852.
