	Inscription: Daniel Barnard who departed this life on the 26th day of October 1879 9th day of Marcheshvan 5640 A.M aged 54 years. He was a native of Chatham and greatly respected by his fellow townsmen he was elected a member of three corporate bodies, The Court Leet, The Board of Health and The Fire Brigade. Whose founder and captain he was and who showed him the last honour by following his remains to the grave. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing widow and children.
